What the customer reported
Clicking that continued after the burners lit, and on one of the two ranges continued with everything switched off. Once a cooktop clicks with all controls off, the switches are no longer the suspect.
What we found
We pulled the cooktop to reach the module and the burner group underneath. Electrodes were clean and correctly gapped; the module was firing regardless of demand.

What we did
Replaced the spark module and tested each burner individually — light-off time, spark cutting out on flame detection, and no clicking at rest.
Why this happens
Spills that run down into the module are the usual cause on a range this age. Cleaning the electrodes is worth doing, but once the module is stuck firing, cleaning does not bring it back.
