What the customer reported
The cooktop clicked with everything off. That symptom sends most people looking at the switches, and it is almost never the switches.
What we found
With the top and control fascia removed, the burner electrodes were shorting and driving the spark circuit continuously. The module was doing what it was being told.
What we did
Replaced the burner electrodes, cleaned the burner group while the assembly was open, and confirmed the cooktop stayed silent at rest and lit on demand.
Why this happens
A shorted electrode looks exactly like a bad module from the outside — same noise, same behaviour. The difference only shows once the top is off, which is why a clicking cooktop is worth diagnosing before ordering parts.
