What the customer reported
The oven controls were no longer behaving predictably, which on a gas range is a fault to diagnose properly rather than work around.
What we found
Opening the range gives access to the valves, wiring harness and board together. Supply and mechanical parts checked out; the board was the component not doing its job.
What we did
Replaced the control board and re-tested the oven functions before closing the range back up.
Why this happens
On a professional range the board sits behind the burner group and lives with the heat coming off it. Boards in this position age faster than the mechanical parts around them, which is why a twenty-year-old range often still has its original valves and its second or third board.
